It jumped from 6¢ to 99¢ in 24 hours after the two had dinner at the White House on September 27. Taylor Swift's new single "Patient

Our Take
Weekends are when prediction markets meet the news cycle without a stock market to share the attention. This list is mostly traders reacting to things that happened on Saturday and Sunday: a White House dinner, French Senate results, a hurricane forecast. Those moves are easy to explain. The interesting ones are the moves without a headline, like core inflation, and the paired moves, like the two Swift markets, where you can see traders shifting their view of one number in two places at once.

Data as of 13:00 UTC, September 28, 2026, from Kalshi's and Polymarket's public market data. "Pts" means percentage points of contract price over the prior 24 hours. How we built the list: we left out contracts that settle within 48 hours (daily weather, single games, same-day crypto prices), markets with little trading, and moves where the last trade sat outside the current bid and ask. Kalshi's earnings-call "mention" markets also swung by 35 to 67 points on thin trading; we left them out too. A dated record, not a live feed.
The weekend's news, priced in
- •Trump and Amodei. Anthropic's CEO had a one-on-one dinner with President Trump at the White House on Sunday, September 27, 2026, their first private meeting, Axios and TechCrunch reported. Kalshi's contract pays out if they meet in person before October 1, so it went from 6¢ to 99¢.
- •The French Senate. In the September 27 Senate elections, the National Rally and its ally, the UDR, won a record 14 seats, enough to form a formal group for the first time (France 24, Bloomberg). Polymarket's 13+ bucket rose 64 points to 97¢.
- •Gold. Spot gold fell to about $4,149 an ounce on September 28, 2026, down 3.2% on the day and more than 23% below January's record (Trading Economics). Polymarket's "hit $4,200 in September" contract is now effectively settled at 99.9¢.
- •US-Iran talks. President Trump said he expects US negotiators to hold more talks with Iran this week (Axios, via Bloomberg, September 27), even after rejecting Iran's proposal on the Strait of Hormuz. Polymarket's "next senior meeting by October 31" contract rose 51 points to 81¢.
- •Hurricane Nolo. Nolo strengthened to a Category 4 with 150 mph winds as it moved away from Hawaii, and forecasters said it was near Category 5 strength (weather.com, CBS News, September 27 to 28). Category 5 means sustained winds of 157 mph or more, the line Kalshi's contract uses.
Two Taylor Swift markets, one message
Taylor Swift released "Patient Zero" and three other new songs on September 25, 2026 with the expanded "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore". The song opened at No. 1 on Spotify's global chart with 13.7 million streams, the biggest single-day total by a female artist in 2026 (Billboard).
A record first day did not convince traders the first week would reach 50 million streams. Polymarket's 50m+ outcome fell 74 points to 10¢. The same day, Kalshi's contract on the album passing 200,000 first-week units fell from 63¢ to 29¢. The first-week tracking period runs September 25 to October 1, 2026.
When two markets on the same release move the same way at the same time, it usually means new tracking data reached traders, not that one trader changed their mind.
The move without a headline: core inflation
Kalshi's contract on core CPI inflation for 2026 coming in above 2.7% rose from 24¢ to 85¢. No new inflation report came out over the weekend: the last CPI release (September 11) showed core inflation at about 2.45% for the year to August, and the September report is due October 14, 2026 (BLS).
A 61-point move with no data release is a reason to look twice. It may reflect traders pricing higher inflation risk after the gold and oil moves, or thin trading on a contract that settles in January 2027. Before trading a move like this, check the bid and ask, not just the last price.
